While this isn’t exactly the first time that the Korean cell phone maker has made its way into Canada, it is the first time that Pantech has sold a handset with its own branding here. Telus Mobility has just picked up the Pantech PN-3200, a spiffy clamshell “targeted at young, trend-setting consumers.”

In a partnership of number twos (Pantech is South Korea’s second largest mobile phone maker; Telus is Canada’s second largest CDMA service provider), Pantech is finally making a big effort to get recognized as an global brand. In fact, Pantech has been providing Telus with phones since the late 1990s as an original design manufacturer (ODM).

The PN-3200 is far from being a top-of-the-line phone, but it’s got enough features to compete in the budget-minded Canadian market. You’ll find a basic VGA shooter, music/video player, speakerphone, 1.9-inch color TFT LCD, and Bluetooth wireless technology. Expect to pay $49.99 for this phone, provided you’ll sign a 3-year contract ($250 on a month-to-month basis).
