Zipit Wireless Messenger 2 – IM without a PC

The Zipit Wireless Messenger 2 does pretty much what you would guess judging by the name – it allows you to send and receive instant message without a computer. It supports the major IM services that you might want to use, including AOL< Yahoo and MSN. It also has a MyTunez media player that can access internet radio or plays music stored on a miniSD card. It’s available for $149.99 and comes with some solid credentials – it won the Best of Show award for portable gear at the 2007 DigitalLife.

The obvious market for this is for houses with only one computer and a heavy IM user or two that hog that machine. The appeal would be limited for some because you could do the same things and more on any number of phones, but then this device doesn’t need a service plan and comes with a manageable price tag.

Posted 3 days, 9 hours ago.

The Wowee One is a small portable bass speaker (subwoofer) measuring 4.7 x 2.4 x 1-inches. It’s capable of sending out 90db of sound between the 40Hz – 20KHz range, and creating a dynamic subwoofer out of nearly any flat surface imaginable. It has an internal battery with an estimated 20 hours of playtime per charge.

The Etch A Sketch was a small box-like toy filled with aluminum powder that could be scraped off the inside surface of the glass to create a dark line on its light gray screen. Two knobs would allow you to move vertically and horizontally across the screen to create either a mess of lines, or a fantastic image. When you were done, just give it an upside down shake, and you can start allover again.

If you’re thinking that the overall form factor looks familiar, well, you’re right. The HTC Legend functions as a spiritual successor to the HTC Hero, throwing the “chin” back in the game. The Legend also comes with a bunch of other improvements too, including operating off the newer HSPA network.
