New Dell Inspirons Getting Slimmer To Combat Macbook Air, Lenovo X300? |
|
It's become the mantra ever since the Motorola RAZR first hit the scene many moons ago. Slim is in. It started with cell phones, but the idea of a thin profile has really started to infiltrate the market for just about any consumer electronics. Everyone seems so amazed by the slim profile of the Macbook Air (it can fit in a manila envelope!), so the current rumor is that Dell wants a piece of this slender notebook pie as well.
Seemingly following in the footsteps of the Lenovo X300 as well, Dell is set to enter the thin laptop market with no fewer than three new additions to the Inspiron line. The Dell Inspiron 1435, 1535, and 1735 will share a very similar design, gradually increasing in thickness from about 1.0 to 1.5-inches as the screen size grows from 14 to 17 inches. The model numbering scheme is in line with other Inspiron models.
Specs will vary and you'll have the opportunity to upgrade some features, but you can expect things like up to a Core 2 Duo 2.16GHz processor, optional 3G connectivity, and slot-loading Blu-ray drives. The first of the models is set to hit shelves later this month.
