The Nokia N-series smartphones have been pretty successful, especially now that the handsets are getting a lot more fashionable than their predecessors. As we anxiously await the arrival of the Nokia N96 smartphone, we have to opportunity to watch this hands-on session with an early prototype of the phone. Videos sure beat pictures, don't they?

The Nokia N96 can be thought of as some sort of hybrid between the Nokia N95 and the Nokia N81. It has a slightly upgraded feature set over the somewhat clunky N95, but it has the shiny smooth appearance of the beautiful N81. It's really the best of both worlds, because you get beauty and brawn. I just wish it had QWERTY too.

As you may recall, the features include a front-mounted VGA camera for video calls, a 5 megapixel camera in the back, quad-band GSM, dual-band HSDPA, QVGA display, microSD expansion, 802.11b/g WiFi, stereo Bluetooth, Symbian OS 9.3, aGPS, 3.5mm audio out, FM radio with RDS, DVB-H, and a dual slide design. Estimated street date is near the end of this year.
