The Apple iPhone and iPod touch is increasingly becoming the platform of choice for homebrew game developers and this latest creation looks like it could be a fair bit of fun. Dubbed Raging Thunder, it's a racing game designed for Apple's touchscreen handhelds and the cool thing is that it actually makes use of the accelerometer.
Instead of hitting virtual buttons on the screen to steer your muscle car, all you need to do is tilt the iPhone or iPod touch. The controls still seem a little wonky at this point, but I had similar difficulties when I first started racing with the Wii Wheel in Mario Kart Wii. I guess you just have to get used to it. The weird thing is that the game plays in portrait rather than landscape mode.
Raging Thunder still needs some work (it doesn't have sound), but it looks like it could be pretty enjoyable. The graphics are some of the best we've seen in an iPhone game to date.
